Wood care
Our wood products are carefully designed and require special care to maintain their natural look and durability:
Daily care: Simply dust with a soft cloth.
Thorough cleaning: Use a cloth dampened with warm, soapy water.
Precautions:
-Avoid abrasive sponges, which can scratch the wood.
-Avoid cleaning products that could stain the wood.
-Do not place the furniture near a source of intense heat (radiator, fireplace, etc.) which could dry out the wood and cause it to shrink.
-Do not place a hot object directly on it, as this may mark the wood.
-Quickly wipe off any traces of water that could bleach the wood.
-We advise you to keep the humidity level in your home between 40% and 60% to prevent the wood from working abnormally.

Care tips for different materials
Our products are made to last for years; however, each piece of furniture from Forge Design is unique and can benefit from a little care and attention.
Please follow the care instructions for our products below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team again.
Product care instructions for Forge Design furniture are provided as a service.
No warranty is implied, as results may vary.
General Care
The best way to care for any piece of furniture at Forge Design is to avoid exposing it to unusual conditions.
We therefore advise you to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, heat or humidity to prevent fading and cracking.
If possible, cover surfaces to prevent visible damage. Use coasters and placemats under glasses and hot dishes.
Be aware that heavily dyed fabrics, such as dark denim, can rub off on your furniture and cause discoloration.
Marble
Our marble tables from Forge Design have two coats of waxy sealer that provide basic protection; however, due to the porous nature of marble, we advise you to be careful with any splashes.
It’s a common misconception that marble sealers “prevent” stains. This is not quite true, as a sealer merely slows down the natural rate of absorption of a liquid by the stone.
The sealant does not prevent scratches. This is physical damage to the stone and we therefore recommend the use of coasters, placemats or other surface protectors, and to avoid contact with acidic and alkaline foods wherever possible.
To protect and maintain your Forge Design marble table, we recommend the purchase of a special marble cleaner and additional sealer, available at most hardware stores. We recommend re-sealing your marble table every 1 to 3 years. You can have it sealed either by a professional or by yourself.
Leather
For routine leather care, use a dry cloth to remove dust and vacuum.
If you notice any stains, blot them right away and clean the area with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap.
Avoid cleaning only the stain; instead, clean the entire surface before drying with a clean cloth.
Avoid using products such as stool soap, rough cleaners, detergents or ammonia.
If you need to use a specific leather cleaner, first make sure it doesn’t discolor the material.
If the stain doesn’t disappear, don’t hesitate to call in a furniture expert.
Microfiber
For regular maintenance, dust with a dry cloth.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and isopropyl alcohol.
If stains appear, use a non-abrasive leather cleaner with a soft cloth, and rub gently in a circular motion.
Don’t just clean the stain; wipe the entire surface, then dry with a clean cloth.
Do not use saddle soap, abrasive cleaners, detergents or ammonia.
If necessary, use a non-abrasive leather cleaner, but first test in an inconspicuous spot to make sure there’s no discoloration.
If the stain or imperfection persists, please consult a furniture specialist.
Wood
Once a month, clean the surface with a soft cloth and a quality cleaner specified for wood, following the grain direction according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Twice a year, polish with a quality wood furniture polish. Do not use aerosol cleaners or polishes, or oil-, wax- or abrasive-based polishes.
If stains appear, blot immediately and apply a non-aerosol, non-abrasive wood cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Test on a small area to ensure no discoloration. If the stain or smudge persists, please consult a furniture specialist.
Regular maintenance
Vacuum regularly with an upholstery tool.
Turn, rotate and shake removable cushions regularly to ensure even wear and increased longevity.
Feather and down pillows recover their shape well, but like down comforters, pillows need frequent shaking to regain their volume.
The loss of a few feathers is normal. Vacuuming with an upholstery tool between fabric covers and cushions will help prevent feathers from penetrating the fabric.
To minimize fading, avoid placing your upholstered furniture in direct sunlight. Dark fabrics and natural fibers like cotton are the most sensitive to fading.
An annual professional cleaning will maintain the appearance of your upholstered furniture.
Stains
Treat stains immediately for best results.
Absorb as much of the stain as possible with a clean, dry, white cloth.
Do not rub. If a cleaner is required, we recommend using a mild, all-natural upholstery cleaner and testing on an inconspicuous area.
For large or stubborn stains, we recommend dry-cleaning or consulting a furniture specialist for professional maintenance.
