Rustic trends on the rise. Have you ever felt the need for a breath of fresh air, a dose of mother nature? Have you ever felt the need for a breath of fresh air, a dose of mother nature, even in the comfort of your living room?
Well, the solution is right in front of you.
Immerse your home in a soothing ambience, a kind of Garden of Eden. I’m talking about rustic furniture, a decorating trend that’s making a big splash these days, injecting vitality into our interiors.
So what's this famous rustic style all about?
Imagine an explosive cocktail of natural lines and textures that evoke the earth beneath your feet – in short, everything that reminds us of nature. If we had to draw up a portrait of a rustic home, I’d say: clear floor plans offering unobstructed views, large bay windows creating a fluid link between your cocoon and the outdoors, and of course materials wood, stone and brick for all to see, to enhance the authenticity of the structure.
And then other styles come in to play, blending with the natural elements to create a delightfully dissonant visual harmony.
Ah yes, you’re probably wondering how to give your home that unique rustic touch, aren’t you? The secret is to keep things simple, opting for natural materials, neutral colors, uncluttered patterns, raw wood and natural light. I have a few tips to share:
Make the most of exposed wooden beams, which add character and warmth to any room.
Choose wide planks for floors and panelling. Natural, tinted or raw, it’s up to you.
Install a fireplace, because nothing beats the warmth of a good fire to bring a rustic touch to your living room. Consider natural stone or brick for the mantle.
Go for sobriety for your walls. White to highlight the wood, or neutral, earthy tones to create a country feel. Shades of sandstone, brown, forest green or sage will bring a touch of natural tranquility to your home.
When it comes to textiles, we prefer natural materials such as linen, wool, leather and canvas.
Don’t skimp on decorative elements reminiscent of nature: jute rugs, tree branches, wicker baskets, rocks and driftwood.
The importance of greenery!
Bring nature into your home with flowers and plants. Forget overly sophisticated arrangements and opt for succulents in a terrarium, dried eucalyptus or a magnificent decorative vase!
And above all, let the light in! Choose window treatments that don’t block natural light.
There’s a lot of talk about rustic style, but what exactly is rustic furniture?
Well, it’s simple. Rustic furniture brings out the raw beauty of nature, even when transformed into furniture.
No need for perfectly smooth surfaces, we prefer materials that bear the marks of time and weather. Wood is often used, with species such as oak, cherry, maple and walnut. And when we find a knot in the wood, we don’t hide it – on the contrary, we proudly display it!
